Gardens of St Peters - Mo's Garden - Guthlaxton Street, Leicester.

We are pleased to be able to introduce you to the Garden of Mo's Guthlaxton Street Leicester Garden.

Mo's Guthlaxton Street Leiceaster Garden

During August 2009 we were invited by Mr & Mrs Sayed of St Peters to come and view their front and back gardens.

We were so impressed that we have produced some HD video for the neighbourhood website of it to share with everyone else.

Mohamed Sayed and his wife has lived at his property since August 1999, during which time they have seen many changes in the street... all for the better.

Once a police no go area, riddled with drugs, crime and ever escalating spirals of anti social behaviour the street has now changed.

The garden space of their home there has changed likewise since they bought the property. 'Mo' as Mr Sayed is known as, explained to us how he views the good stewardship of the gardens of a property as making a contribution to the whole community.

Blue Hibiscus"Everyone benefits if a garden is well kept as everyone can walk past and enjoy it. It also shows consideration for ones neighbours." Even 'Mo's' back garden is a sight to behold where he was proud to point out the vegetables there also.

His environmental credentials were further embellished by his composting of everything that can be composted which may have explained the presence of so many birds and insects in the garden as the soil condition looked truly superb. It was almost as if it was the larder for the whole of the winged population of the neighbourhood.

Another aspect of this was Mo's practice of trying to grow non standard plants... things that are different from what you would find in most gardens such as ornamental grasses as well as a variety of different herbs especially different types of mint.

Yeelow scented rosesMo's enthusiasm for garden has begun to spill over to one of his neighbours where as a joint project they shared the construction of a pergola trellis at the shared fence to grow gourds which they naturally both share.

St Peters NM feels as if the transformation of Mo's garden may well have played a contributory role in the pacification of the area as it is increasingly understood these days how the appearance of a neighbourhood sets the scene for crime and anti social behaviour.

St Peters NM says therefore that surely the whole neighbourhood has benefited from Mo's superb gardens more than many would appreciate is actually the case.
